Explore Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!

Welcome to Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

As we pulled up to Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, the beauty of the Bahamian blue waters was as captivating as always. As we docked, the long pier to the Island made me wonder if we would be shuttled there. It turned out we were going to walk to the pier, and surprisingly, I would not have it any other way.

A Walk to Remember on the Pier

The pier walk at Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point seemed shorter than Castaway Cay’s walk to the tram. The biggest difference was the sheer beauty of it all. I could have spent a day on the pier, and it would have been a good day. I constantly looked back at the Magic and looked ahead with anticipation of the island as it came into focus. The closer I got, the more I thought, “This is not Castaway Cay; this is a new experience.”

Beaches Exposed to the Atlantic Ocean

First, there is no bay; the beaches at Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point are exposed directly to the Atlantic Ocean. The waves moving towards the pier are noticeably larger than Castaway’s. I could see waves crashing against the coral rocks where the pier met the Island. To my right, I saw a chain of islands extending past the end of the Island. I stayed here soaking it in until I noticed my family way ahead. The first beach you see is the family cabanas.

Main Entrance and Amenities at Lookout Cay

After the pier, you are greeted at the main entrance of Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point with shade, a place to charter boats, opportunities for refreshments, and essentials for the sun (better to bring your own). The trams are here too, which bring you to the other side of the small island not visible from the pier. It is here you begin to get a full scope of the island.

Exploring the Island’s Culture and Shops

Once dropped off, the first place you arrive is the main retail shop, T’ngs. Next is Treasures of Eleuthera, which includes beautifully crafted items and artwork. I asked who painted these, and to my surprise, the answer was, “You’re talking to him.” Local artist and Eleuthera native Chauncey Rolle. Right behind here is the Goombay Cultural Center, where you can experience the local culture with activities.

Inside the Treasures of Eleuthera store were handmade straw baskets, purses, and women’s wallets by local artist Patrice Davis.

Interconnected Walkways and Natural Beauty

From here, I found a network of interconnected walkways that meander up and down the coastline of Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. These walkways are surrounded by palm trees, Bahamian-themed bars, restrooms, and True-True BBQ, True-True Too BBQ, and Serenity Bay BBQ in the adult-exclusive area. Every stop has shade resembling layered butterfly wings perfectly blended into the natural environment.

Stunning Beaches Await

The absolute best part of Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is the beaches! The beaches are visible from most of the walkways through the palms and umbrellas. The beach left me amazed. The sand is as white as Destin, Florida’s, and the ocean is as blue as any. When I entered, I could look left and right and really could not tell where it ended.

I will be returning and plan on renting a cabana for the day to enjoy the beach.
