Disney Cruise Line’s next announced ship is the Disney Believe, scheduled to begin sailing on December 18, 2027. A new class of smaller ships is also planned, beginning in 2029. If you are choosing your first Disney cruise, separate ships already sailing from future announcements before comparing dates and prices.
Reviewed October 13, 2026, using Disney’s latest published announcements. Future schedules can change.
Which Disney cruise ships are already sailing?
Disney’s August 2026 fleet update lists eight operating ships: Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure. The Adventure sails from Singapore.
A ship being newer does not automatically make it the right choice for your family. Departure port, itinerary, cruise length and budget may matter more than a particular lounge or stage show.
When will the Disney Believe sail?
Disney announced a December 18, 2027 maiden voyage from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. The Believe will be the fourth Wish-class ship, following the Wish, Treasure and Destiny. Announced features include an Encanto stage musical and a new Frozen-themed family dining venue.
See Disney’s October 2026 Believe announcement for the confirmed plans. Check the specific sailing before assuming a port, room type or experience is available.
What is the new Disney cruise ship class?
Disney’s August 2026 announcement describes three ships in a new class, with the first debut planned for 2029. They will be larger than the Disney Wonder and smaller than the Disney Wish. Additional itinerary and ship details were still being developed in that announcement.
Read the official new ship class update. A fleet announcement is not the same as a published booking calendar, and an announced ship does not mean reservations are already open.
Should you wait for a new Disney cruise ship?
Wait if a confirmed feature is central to your vacation and the announced dates fit your plans. Compare existing ships if you want to travel sooner, need a particular departure port or have a firm budget.
- Start with dates. Match school breaks and time off before choosing a ship.
- Compare total trip cost. Include travel to the port, a pre-cruise hotel and optional onboard spending.
- Review room needs. Check occupancy, bedding and location for the category you are actually booking.
- Read cancellation terms. A future ship announcement should not replace the terms attached to your reservation.
What about environmental claims?
Technology announcements describe design goals and planned systems. They do not prove that a cruise has no environmental impact. We removed an unsupported statement from the original article claiming that fireworks dissolve into fish food.
