Updated October 13, 2026. Chef Mickey’s is a character breakfast and dinner buffet at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Here are five reasons it may fit your trip, plus the details to check before you reserve.
1. Characters are part of the meal
Mickey Mouse and friends make appearances during dining. This can be an appealing way to combine a meal with character time, but allow time for the experience rather than expecting a quick stop or a guaranteed character lineup.

2. You do not need a park ticket for this restaurant
Chef Mickey’s is inside the Contemporary Resort, outside the theme parks. It can work on a resort day as well as a Magic Kingdom day. Plan travel time separately from your meal, especially if you are coming from another resort.
For help choosing a hotel location, see our Disney World Resort Guide. A dining reservation does not include theme park admission or guarantee parking for a day in a park.
3. The buffet gives your group choices
The current service is a buffet, not the temporary family-style service described in our older article. Breakfast and dinner have different menus and prices. Review Disney’s Chef Mickey’s listing and menu before making your decision; food offerings and prices can change.
Budget for tax, gratuity and any separately priced extras. We removed the old 2023 prices rather than presenting them as current. For dining-plan questions and meal comparisons, use our Disney Dining Guide.
4. The Contemporary setting is part of the fun
The monorail passing through the resort and the lively dining room make the setting memorable. It can also be noisy. If someone in your party prefers a quiet meal, consider whether this atmosphere is right for them and ask the restaurant about seating requests. A quieter table is not guaranteed.

5. It can be a planned break from park touring
A seated meal can give your family a change of pace. Choose a time that works with naps, travel and your park priorities. On arrival day, leave a generous buffer for flight delays rather than booking a meal immediately after your expected landing.
What should you know before booking?
- Reserve ahead: advance reservations are highly recommended. Check availability in My Disney Experience and review cancellation terms in your confirmation.
- Count everyone: include infants and young children in the reservation party size.
- Discuss dietary needs: note allergies when booking and speak with the dining team on arrival about current options.
- Check your date: confirm operating hours, menu prices and character information for your visit.
For a different themed meal, compare Roundup Rodeo BBQ, which has Toy Story decor but is not character dining. Our Walt Disney World Planning Guide helps you put meals and park days together.
